American Wood Council - A huge amount of information here about the uses of various wood products. There are many free downloads available here including a very useful guide to deck construction.

Gypsum Construction Handbook - All about how gypsum products (Dry-wall, plasterboard etc) can be properly used in construction.

American Society of Civil Engineers

American Society of Civil Engineers Publications - The publications section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Books about construction and solutions to structural problems can be found here.

National Council of Examiners - Website addresses for the Engineers registration boards for the different states.

Southern Pine Bureau - This site describes the many uses of Southern Pine Lumber. Southern Pine is a strong lumber and one of it's principal uses in the middle and eastern portions of the US is in struct items like floor joists. Free guides can be downloaded including floor spans for the different joist sizes.

Simpson Manufacturing - Simpson manufactures metal connecting brackets for wood construction. Many of the brackets have applications in the structural repair of homes. Simpson sells only to retailers.

Simpson Anchors - This is Simpson's site for their fastening products such as expansion anchor bolts and grouted anchor bolts.

Dywidag - Manufactures high strength anchor rods used mainly in tie-back systems such as when anchoring a retaining wall against leaning.

Hilti - Long established company specializing in fasteners of all kinds including expansion anchor bolts and grouted anchor bolts and with very extensive published load capacity tables.
